In-Game Cheats and Tips
Weapon/ammo cheat codes, easy money, item duplication and survival tips.
1.Cheat Codes (PS)
Enter during gameplay:
| Code | Effect |
|---|---|
| X, L1, R1, L2, R2, X, Up, Down, Right, Left, Down, Up | Unlock all guns |
| L1, R1, L2, R2, X, Up, Down, Left, Down, Right, Down, Up | Infinite ammunition |
2.Easy Money and Resources
- Easy money: In the City, go to the Warehouse, grab the Hammer and Baseball Bat, fast-travel to the Church and sell them (~$400). They respawn when you return to the Warehouse. Repeat.
- Infinite diamonds: On Level 7, take a diamond from the safe in the Mayor's office; enter the sewers and return to find it respawned. Sell them.
- Easy experience: Reach Ope's Cave in Act 3, duplicate a valuable weapon with the weapon-dupe glitch, sell it, buy Oleander and turn it in to the tribesman — every 5 Oleander gives 1,000 XP.
3.Saving Trick
Dead Island only saves at set points. To save whenever you want, switch the layout Analog↔Digital in the Controls menu — the game autosaves. Then switch back.
4.Item Duplication (Glitch)
Solo mode only. At a checkpoint, drop the item you want to duplicate, kill yourself with a deo-bomb/molotov; as the respawn timer starts, pause and reload the checkpoint. On respawn the items are both in your inventory and on the ground, with no cash penalty. Note: doesn't work with projectile weapons. Works on modified/upgraded weapons.
5.Combat Tips
- Kills without dulling your weapon: Throw your weapon — a thrown weapon damages without dulling. Keep throwing an almost-spent valuable weapon until you can repair it.
- Large zombie groups: Sprint to a vehicle, crouch on the hood and attack — you can hit them but they can't reach you (hood, not the roof).
- Killing humans (especially Logan): Throw a sharp weapon with a Poison or Shock mod (military machete is best); upgrade it to at least level 3. Blunt weapons and fire do little.
6.Easter Eggs
- Chrome 2: In "Born To Be Wild", talk to Mike Davies in the hotel, go to the workbench room, and in the next room see a "Chrome 2" poster (Techland's upcoming game) on the wall by the fan desk.
